From the first time I drove over the Hilton Head bridge 20 years ago, I was was destined to be an island girl. This passion inspired me to write not only about the adorable and sometimes unexpected animals that reside on Hilton Head Island but about my beloved Golden Doodle Hilton. In writing Hilton’s Island I also wanted to teach a valuable lesson about running away from loved ones and how scary it can be.
I divide my time between Hilton Head and Connecticut where I live with my husband Mark. I'm a cell biologist, mother of two daughters and grandmother to two energetic grandchildren who love to read books. My interests include cooking, gardening, walking, reading and yes beach combing for sharks’ teeth!!
Michele is an author and illustrator of children's books. She is currently retired from twenty five years of teaching art and was the creative visionary for the Great Lakes Visual & Performing Arts Academy for Sandusky Schools.
A busy grandma of thirteen grandchildren, Michele resides with her husband, Mike and fluffy Labradoodle, Chloe - who sometimes posed for illustrations in Hilton's island. You can find Michele in Northern Ohio, or Manitoulin Island in Canada, where she also enjoys interior design, sewing and when stressed, devouring chocolate covered peanuts.
Thank you so much for stopping by and taking a peek at my website. Please feel free to email me at marybethmccarthy.cba@gmail.com with any questions you may have about Hilton's Island and ongoing and future projects.
